Jovislash remembers ProKid with tribute Documentary

Alexandra Township rapper and radio presenter Jovislash commemorates the late Pro Kid with a new documentary named Pro Boots.

In the 12 minutes film we get to reminisce about the late Linda Mkhize popularly known as Pro Kid.

Jovislash donated the famous pair of boots which belonged Pro to the SA Hip Hop Museum based in Newtown.

Jovislash spent some of his childhood years in Soweto but only met Prokid in 2017 when he featured him on his single Aya Kwini Remix Aftermath.

“I was born in Alexandra I moved to Soweto when things were not going well for Pro’s career and he moved back to the hood and we became neighbours,” .  

“We became really close, and he was someone I spent most of my time with in my studio. We spoke about music and he believed in me.

He considered me as a neighbor, friend and not just a fan. He nurtured and taught me a lot about what to expect when my career starts taking off and instilled wisdom in me.”

8 August was the official release date of the documentary, which is also the date that marks three years since the legendary South African hip hop pioneer Prokid departed.

Jovislash is an artits who is always in touch with current matters. His series of releases have helped him become a national sensation by turning real issues and events into radio hit songs.

The 32-year-old has devoted his career so far to music production, specialising mainly in the hip-hop genre but also spreading his wings in house, amapiano, electro, dub and kwaito.

As a comedian, Jovislash has his own YouTube channel and infuses music, comedy, and social issues to uplift, educate and empower the community.
