5 New Projects To Stream Right Now

Spread the love

Since it’s always a joy to check out new discoveries, Impulse Africa Magazine is here to give a nod to 5 new projects you should have on your playlists.

Selections include Ckay, Nirvana Nokwe, Wener Bekker A-Reece and Pabi Cooper.

Ckay —Sad Romance

Chukwuka Ekweani, known publicly as CKay, is the rising star in the ever-burgeoning Afrobeats scene. A multi-talented artist, whether behind the boards as a producer or in front of the mic performing his self-penned songs, it is CKay’s single-minded vision that shines through. The self-defined Emo-Afrobeat star has and continues to soar up charts across the globe thanks to his first globally recognized single ‘love nwantiti’.

Introducing his fans into a new era as a globally recognized artist, Ckay has served a steamy plate of “Sad Romance”. His previous EP project had placed him on a high pedestal but the self-acclaimed “Africa’s boyfriend” seems to have taken his game to a whole other level.

Nirvana Nokwe —Nirvous Love

Nirvous Love is an EP that brings one’s soul on a voyage of discovery: a story of love and awakening. Being self-aware due of the replicated dynamics of destruction, betrayal and hurt created in childhood, Nirvana explores the vindictive streak to attaining the love we all deserve.

Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku, better known as Nirvana Nokwe, is a performance artist of varied disciplines. The 26-year-old is a trained singer, actress, producer, fashion model and filmmaker.

Having had a commercial background in print, advertising, film, as well as a heavy-handed experience in broadcasting, performance art and music, her aims are to create an audio-visual experience, through her brand, encompassing beauty, high art, fashion and performance.

AReece —Deadlines Free p2

One of the leaders of the new wave of SA Hip Hop, A-Reece returns on the circuit with yet another EP in Deadlines 2: Free P2. The project contains features from DJ Maphorisa, Jay Jody and Emtee to mention a few.

Werner Bekker —Wrong Side of Twenty

Everyone has moments in their life where they feel cheated or stuck. For singer-songwriter, Werner Bekker, 2021 was a year of major soul-searching. The artist turned 26, putting him on the ‘Wrong Side of Twenty’, which is the name of his newly released EP.

The EP is a lot more pop-centric than the singer’s previous material in that a number of the tracks are a lot more upbeat than before. This was not a conscious effort, but rather one of personal growth.

Pabi Cooper — Coorperville

Since the release of Isphithiphithi in 2021, Pabi Cooper’s life has taken a 360-degree turn and now she has taken the next big stride in the music industry by releasing her debut EP, Cooperville.

South Africa’s Pabi Cooper has enjoyed an expedient rise since the early 2022 release of “Banyana Ke Bafana.”
