Spread the love

Impulse Africa Magazine recently caught up with Kovini Moodley Sandton based Chartered Accountant who is best known for her philanthropic.

She is a well-known face on the South African scene and believes that education is a game changer and the most impactful gift that we can give to others to change the trajectory of their lives.

As Boss Babes of South Africa turns two years old, she reveals more about her multifaceted aspirations and personal life.

  • Briefly tell us about yourself?

I’m Kovini and I hail from a little town, South of Durban. I love inspiring, impacting and motivating people around me. I’m now a Sandtonite and enjoy my job as a Chartered Accountant for a prestigious Sandton based organization.

I’m the founder of Boss Babes of South Africa and it’s been such an incredible journey to have had the opportunity to impact South African women positively through our skill sharing platform.

  • How did Boss Babes come about?

I’ve always wanted to impact causes bigger than myself. Before we went into lockdown I decided to create a motivational digital empowerment platform.

Little did I know that after 2 years we have made such an incredible impact and inspired so many lives. I needed to inspire women to believe in themselves and reach for their dreams.

  • The success of Boss Babes over years, what would you attribute it to?

Hard work, a positive mindset and surrounding myself with a powerful circle of trust and support.

Behind the glamour and social media posts there is a ton of planning, hard work and supportive women who keep it running like a well oiled machine daily!

  •   Have you always been comfortable being yourself?

No, earlier on in my career I lacked confidence and would always worry about being judged and mocked by others.

However as I grew older I spent time reflecting and owning my power in a way that inspires confidence in myself and others!

  • What are you hoping to achieve in 2022 with Boss Babes?

We are hopeful for more South African brands that support educational activities and women empowerment to join us in making a tangible difference to young lives in South Africa.

  • 2020 was a year like none of us have ever experienced. How did the pandemic change you or influence your decisions going forward?

I learnt about how fragile life was and how important it is to live your best life and play towards your true strengths in the world.

It also allowed us to reassess what and when are important forces in our lives.

  • Any upcoming projects you are currently working on?

We’re celebrating our 2nd birthday on 1 March and we are always looking for skill sharing contributors and mentors for our mentorship programme.

We would love to launch an educational bursary programmers.

EDUCATION is the key game changer and could greatly change lives, if I could wave a magic wand I would wish every South African had the opportunity to be educated.

  • Have you ever doubted yourself? And how did you take care of your wellbeing during that time?

Earlier in my career I faced the imposter syndrome and took deliberate steps to work on my self Confidence.

Only you have the power to change your trajectory in life. Make sure that the opinions of others do not diminish your self worth.

Always stand true in your voice and power. We are own best friends and advocates, it all starts with you.

  • Three things people do not know about you?
  • I’m obsessed with dolphins
  • I love relaxing at home in my pajamas
  • I hate horror movies
  • What are you most grateful for right now?

Just to be alive and to be surrounded by so much of love from my community.

It’s been an incredibly enriching and fulfilling experience and I’m also an advocate for positive mindsets and a life of good vibes!
