2. How would you describe your sound?

My sound is a mood. I genuinely write my music based on where I am in my life. So the mood sets the tone of the song.

I have done R&B, House, Afro Pop  and Afrobeat’s and I love that I am able to stretch my talent in this way.

3. How has the process of establishing your own core sound and style been?

I usually say, because I come from such diversity I think it’s influenced my music as well. My rainbow filled ethnicity shows up in my sound.

4.    Where do you draw your inspiration from as a musician?

I draw my inspiration from my Grandma (uGogo wami) she used to have such a beautiful voice and I always thought, that’s where I got it from. Musically I am inspired by Artists who stand for unity and upliftment. ‘

5.  Your latest project COURAGE has been received to great acclaim so far, briefly tell us about the title and inspirations behind this body of work.

Courage comes from my journey in the industry and in life. I’ve had more knocks than wins and that started to affect my mental state.

I felt worthless as a singer and couldn’t write music for a while. I almost didn’t work on this body of work because my insecurities and self-doubts overwhelmed my love for music.

I was scared to step back into the light and fail. So it sometimes takes courage to stand up and fight especially when you have to for yourself.

The inspiration behind Courage is love and light and all things Blessed.

6.  Have you noticed any difference in the way people consumed your music during and after the lockdown?

I think the love I am getting now is astounding. I am not sure if it’s because of the lockdown but having my music played in Ghana, Nigeria, USA and my country has blown my mind away!! Definitely better.

7.    After taking a break from music, was there some intentionality towards doing something different to show that you have evolved from the person you were before?

I chose not to bring my past into this EP. I closed that door in order for me to be able to do this EP for myself and my fans. So no I have nothing to prove to the industry but I have 100% learnt from it and am glad I got those lessons so I can be a better artist.
