Jossy Don 1 sets sights on African dancehall throne: Interview
Impulse Africa Team recently caught up with Afro pop and dancehall music sensation Jossy Don 1.
Jossy Don 1 is no stranger to the entertainment industry having already featured on Rockville Season2 on MNET and on TINSEL Season 3 in Nigeria.
His first single titled Moving was nominated for best single Reggae dancehall of the year at Pretoria Music Awards 2013.
Jossy Don 1 aims to be one of the forerunners of the Dancehall genre in Africa.

- Briefly tell us about yourself
Jossy don1 is a dancehall/afro pop artist song writer & actor.
2.How would you describe your sound?
My sound is a dancehall sound originated from reggae music.
3.How do you balance being in the music industry and your personal life?
Well when I am doing my things as a recording artist I devote all my time into it in the industry.
When am doing my personal things outside the entertainment world I handle it as Joshua that’s how I try to balance the equation.
4.Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I draw my inspiration from GOD ALLMIGHTY and the natural things that happens around me.
5.Your latest single, what inspired it?
My latest single was inspired from fake friends that don’t want to see you succeed in life but GOD is greater than them.
6.What can your fans expect from you for the remainder of 2021?
My fans should expect more clubs gigs and tour performances my songs are out on all digital music platforms for now.
7.How do you see your career in the next 5 years penning out?
I see my career on the high side in the industry in the next 5 years as one of the best dancehall artist to ever come out from African continent by God’s grace.

9.What are your thoughts on the state of music in African right now?
My thoughts about Africa music is that African music has improved tremendously and has gone viral global over the years.
I want the upcoming talented artists from Africa to be given good platform to showcase their talents without being extorted and being used.
10.What are you most grateful for at this moment?
I am grateful for being able to compose and write my own songs and grateful for the musical talent and acting skills gifted to me by GOD.
